What are the tanks made of?

All our Bladder tanks are made of a 1000GSM Flexible reinforced PVC tarpaulin - ensuring that each tank is extremely tough and durable (see image below). Compare this to other sellers who use thinner and lighter materials in their tanks.

Are they pressure tested?

Yes - every bag is pressure tested before packing. See the image below:

Are they guaranteed not to leak?

Yes, all bladder tanks are pressure tested before they leave the factory.

Is there a warranty?

Yes we give a 5 year full replacement warranty against manufacturing faults.

Why don't you have a frame for your tanks?

Our tanks are made from reinforced PVC which is self supporting, thus no frame is required. Compare this to other bladder tanks which are not reinforced, which needs a supporting frame and likely will have a shorter life span due to continually expanding and contracting during the filling and emptying of the tank.

Why do you have 50mm side inlet fittings rather than a 100mm collared fitting at the top of the tank?

A side inlet fitting:

  • Minimises the chance of damaging the tank and piping due to inflexible connections
  • Allows a flexible pipe to be used which won ’t collapse
  • Makes installation easier in under house/deck settings where there might not be enough headroom to run an inlet pipe to the top of the tank.

Some other bladder tanks have larger inlet fittings, for example 100mm inlets at the top of their tanks. We prefer side inlets as explained above. Also, a 50mm fitting, with 1m of head, will support a flow of 500 litres per minute. Therefore, any concerns about losing much (if any) potential rainwater by using a smaller fitting compared to the larger collar type fitting aren ’t really relevant.

Why choose a Solavis Bladder tank?

  • Our fabric is 1000gsm (grams per square metre) – compare this to other sellers who use lighter fabrics
  • Our material is a reinforced PVC, making it more durable against puncture, and longer lasting compared to elastic bladder tanks.
  • High quality joins; each join is welded back onto itself making it stronger than simply welding the two pieces of material together.
  • Moulded stabilisation rings at each corner for added stability.
  • Our connection setup using a flexible pipe and no moving parts makes installation easier and should provide for a more stable long term solution
  • Our PVC fabric is algae resistant and UV stabilised, so it doesn’t need a cover when in direct sunlight (although one is still recommended to lengthen the life of your tank).
  • With fittings on both sides of each tank, connecting multiple tanks together is easy.

Do they have to be installed on level ground?

Yes the ground needs to be level before installation.

Where can I buy the fittings?

You can purchase fittings and other tank accessories from any local plumbing or irrigation supplier.

What do I use for a ground sheet?

As long as the ground where the tank will lie is cleared of rocks, stones and any other sharp objects, a ‘builders plastic’ or weed matting will be fine.

Can we drink from the bladder tanks?

No, these tanks are not designs for potable water storage.
